　　　　清朝，连考十多次也没能中上状元后，朱秀才（黄百鸣）气死了老爹、气走了老婆，自己也含冤于某一寺庙悬梁㊟㊟，结果无法投胎，灵魂被附在了他㊟㊟时所用的麻绳上。 　　时间来到1980年代，香港高中女生林小花（李丽珍）、林青青（罗明珠）和颜如玉（林珊珊）暑期旅行的路上遭遇暴风雨，为避雨，她们闯进朱秀才㊟㊟的寺庙，雨毕，林青青于慌乱中将附有朱秀才灵魂的那根麻绳带进住室，惹来一片惊声尖叫，但随着交流的深入，她们慢慢与朱秀才成为无话不谈的朋友，而彼此通过对方的鼓励，更加清楚了接下来要走的路——当然，这一过程中，没少闹笑话。
